Here we go. The USDA just officially announced the plan to completely repeal the 2001 Roadless Rule. 45 million acres of public lands are on the line. It’s time to stand up for our wild places.

Home hardening is the process of making your house more resistant to flying embers, radiant heat and direct flames.
Embers carried by the wind are responsible for the vast majority of wildfire home losses. Home hardening is one of the most effective ways to protect home - and lives - from destructive wildfires.

Unfortunately, the DOI doesn’t seem to agree.
They recently launched a “review” of the wilderness stewardship policies at the BLM, USFWS and NPS. Supposedly, the goal is to “remove unnecessary barriers to access.”
These places already offer some of the very best backcountry recreation ANYWHERE. Keeping them wild is what makes those experiences possible.
So who benefits from changes to these wilderness protections? Oil and gas leaseholders, mining companies, and developers looking to turn our public lands into private profit.
Glacier doesn’t need to become Disneyland. It needs to stay wild.

But when we look closer, we see another attempt to clear the way for commercial development and resource fragmentation on some of America’s wildest remaining public lands.
A River Runs Through It is a community-built proposal that protects the places that define the Blackfoot and Clearwater valleys while supporting the people who call them home.
It would conserve iconic landscapes, improve forest health, expand recreation access, protect wildlife habitat, and strengthen local communities—all through decades of collaboration and common ground.
This is what can happen when neighbors come together with a shared goal: keeping Montana’s public lands healthy and accessible for generations to come.
